Pia Larsen presents her fourth solo exhibition at the Damien Minton Gallery, exploring themes around the subject of bodies and the language used to define them.
Originally from a printmedia background Pia is increasingly becoming sculptural in her work, creating whole environments.
She utilises found images, drawing and materials like metal and paper, to explore the intersections between the corporeal, abstract form and text.
The central piece titled Sweep, encompassing the middle section of the gallery, consists of suspended stainless steel rods manipulated into a mass of loops and haphazard shapes that compress into longer sweeping strands.
It will be surrounded by a number of works including the series Script, snatches of ‘text’ in metal , as well as Love Rug, an erogenous zone ‘rug,’ in velvety grey metal hanging alongside printed ‘rugs’ in vibrant pinks.
