The Devotionals

Tuesday 17th July

We are pleased to present the first solo exhibition by Eric Niebuhr at the Damien Minton Gallery.

Born in Texas, Eric moved to Sydney from Los Angeles in 2007.

For over twelve years, he has worked with images sourced from other forms of media as surrogates to inform the moods and formal situations in his paintings. In The Devotionals, Niebuhr welcomes the abstract into the everyday as well as the revered. Inspired by and dedicated to deceased artists, artworks, and objects of veneration these disparate sources become fodder for abstract works. Having shown in the US and internationally, Niebuhr exhibited a suite of paintings at MOP Projects in 2011. He was recently awarded an Artist in Residence at ANU in Canberra.
