Man arrives at his newfound land ‘Terror Annihilate’ (Terra Nullius). Killing what he cannot control, he attempts to make it just like his old land. Out with the old in with the new, until the new becomes just like the old. Is there a point to this exercise?

These new works are produced on waste objects, once cherished but now despised - I flatten them out into “canvases” and paint on them with rocks from the river.

The work is about seeing what is already here.

In man’s constant search for more the planet is being destroyed, and for what? I aim to reconnect people back to nature and to lost value by imbuing their discarded objects with the natural beauty of place.

There is a journey which everyone sets out upon, each following their own various signs. This work attempts to show a short cut; the sign posts point to nothing; however this so called nothing is very much alive, enough unto itself. The child in the back seat, “Are we there yet? Are we there yet!”

You have always been there. It’s time to pull over. Get out and smell the gum trees.

I remember hanging out down the beach at Lennox Head with Zen Master Hogan-san when he said, “The greatest journey you will ever make is when you stop.”

In many ‘primitive’ cultures when strangers meet they sit down together in silence. If they can’t stop and sit with themselves and experience harmony, the meeting cannot go any further. Once the communion is attained, everyone is looked after with care, having experienced the all as one.
